You don’t always have to see a doctor, our nursing team and Physician Associate can deal with minor illness such as ear, throat & chest infections as well as chronic disease reviews such as Asthma, Diabetes, COPD, flu jabs and travel vaccincations.

The team

Billie Walch, Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Billie Walch, qualified as an Adult nurse in 2006, BSc with honours in nursing in 2008, MSc in Advancing clinical practice 2015, studied at the University of Sheffield. Billie worked as a practice nurse in 2010-2015 before working for the Sheffield clinical commissioning group (CCG), then she moved on to specialist roles in asthma and pulmonary fibrosis. Her specialist interest is respiratory, she holds diplomas in both chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma and has a qualification in spirometry. Billie joined the practice in September 2022. She is an independent prescriber and does minor illness clinics, as well as other practice nurse duties on both Tuesdays and Thursdays.

James Stirland, Paramedic
James joined the team January 2024. He started his career in the ambulance service as a technician in 2016 and went on to complete a BSc (Hons) in Paramedic Science. Alongside working as a paramedic in the community James also has experience working within the primary care setting having worked across 5 GP practices. He has a broad range of pre hospital experience across various care settings which often covers a varying degree of complex, urgent and emergency situations across all age ranges. James will be working with us on Thursdays and Fridays supporting our care home patients and supporting the team by triaging, assessing, examining, and determining management plans for patients with both acute and long-term conditions.

Zoe Salomon, Practice Nurse
Zoe Salomon, BSc with honours in Nursing (Adult) at Sheffield Hallam University. Zoe completed her nurse training April 2018 and went straight into practice nursing. Zoe has practice nurse clinics on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Zoe’s special interest is Diabetes management.

Helen Jackson, Healthcare Assistant
Helen has worked at Rustlings Road Surgery since February 2010, initially as part of the reception team and then following training as our Healthcare Assistant. Helen works Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and has several clinics throughout the week offering blood tests, blood pressure checks including ambulatory blood pressure checks, ear syringing, wound management, NHS Health Checks and some vaccines such as Influenza, Pneumonia and Shingles.

Annie Stones, Practice Manager
Annie joined the practice in February 2014. Annie worked at Rustlings Road Surgery in 2004 as a receptionist prior to training as a Children’s Nurse at The University of Sheffield. Following completion of her training Annie felt her strengths lay in the administrative side of the NHS and worked for 4 years at Community Physiotherapy, as an administrator, followed by a further 2 years at Nethergreen Surgery as Assistant Manager and Practice Manager.
